This magazine cover began as the famous renaissance painting, The Swing. I extracted the women on the swing and placed her in a blank canvas then converted her to black and white. Creating my own background, I was able to form darks and lights based on the darks and highlights from the original painting which gave some depth to the image. After researching many Vogue magazines, I was able to pick up what their style of magazine covers were and took those elements of thin text and simple imagery to apply to my own art. Still feeling a sense that something was missing, I made four versions of the women's dress in grey, blue, pink, and yellow to give it a little pop of color. The final touch of the magazine was integrating the tree into the logo to add more appeal and complexity to the design.
